Chapter 2669 – The Arrival Of Celestial Master Zuo

The bloody red liquid felt like needles piercing his eyes. “Little Fox!” His heart ached, and his face turned pale; it felt and looked as if he was the one who had vomited blood.

He held her fingertips gently and trembled as he asked, “Are you okay?”

How could she vomit blood? Was it… Was it from the injury that he had inflicted on her? He quickly checked her pulse to assess her condition. After a while, his fingers clenched tightly, and he had the urge to stab himself with a knife!

Unfortunately for Yan Chen, he was sure that her condition was of his own doing. It seemed that his palm had almost cut off the vein that brought blood to her heart! There was even a possibility that it had been cut off, but perhaps it was pieced together by someone.

Naturally, it was expected that her heart would feel rather weak fragile. There was also a risk that her recovery might be stunted if she did not look after the wound. She needed to rest for at least half a year after suffering from such an injury. Yet, she was already up and about and even drank such a large amount of liquor. Her actions were pretty much a way for her to commit suicide.

Everything felt strange to Yan Chen. He vividly recalled the day that he had launched his attack toward Lan Waihu. Due to his overprotectiveness of Lan Waihu, he was angry that the enemy had used a clone of her against him. Nonetheless, even though he handed a powerful attack on her, subconsciously, he did not really want to take her life. He clearly remembered that he controlled the power of his attack, which was why he was rather confused at how fatal it appeared to be at the moment.

Suddenly, Yan Chen recalled the conversation that he had with Lan Waihu when they had bumped into each other. She had told him that she had been tortured for nearly a month before she escaped. Perhaps, she was already weak at the time, which was why she was hurt so badly by him.

Yan Chen felt a sense of remorse for his action. He could not help but raise his hand to hold her in his arms. He held her tightly and spoke in a hoarse voice. “Little Fox, I am sorry…”

Lan Waihu’s face was ashen. Nonetheless, after she vomited some blood, she opened her eyes slightly. She wheezed for a moment before she turned her attention to Yan Chen and asked him, “Who are you?”

Yan Chen was speechless. He took a light breath before he introduced himself, helplessly, “I am Yan Chen.”

“Yan Chen…” Lan Waihu whispered in a flat tone. It seemed to be emotionless. “Which Yan Chen?

Yan Chen remained silent for a moment. He looked at her crystal clear eyes and continued, “Your husband, Yan Chen…”

Lan Waihu tilted her head and slightly and pouted. She seemed very confused. “My husband? He does not want me anymore…”

Yan Chen was stunned by her reply. He held her hand again and continued, “Little Fox, I have never not wanted you. I just mistook you for the wrong person. I will always want you…”

“You mistook me for the wrong person…” Lan Waihu still murmured and somehow still looked confused. “But… How can he not recognize me? He is my husband, who has been with me for more than 200 years. He often said that even if I peeled my skin off, he would recognize my bones. I obviously have not changed. Furthermore, not only did he did recognize me; he even attacked me! He does not want me anymore…”

She seemed to fall into a nightmare midway through the conversation and continued mumbling.

All her words were like knives stabbing through his heart. The pain from each sentence felt worse than the last. “He is a bastard! Little fox, I am sorry…”

“I didn’t like to do that kind of thing, but he likes to do it… I know that he was unhappy because I did not enjoy being intimate. I am also trying to overcome this psychological obstacle… Almost… I almost succeeded. But I have a baby. I cannot do it when I am pregnant. It is not my intention to push him away, but somehow he left me. He did not even sleep in the same room as me… He was cold to me and didn’t care about me… I am very sad…”

Yan Chen closed his eyes and whispered, “Little Fox, I was not angry at you. I was not being cold to you. I just … I was just afraid that I could not control myself. I did not want you to hate me, so I tried to stay away from you to free myself of any urges. I didn’t expect you to misunderstand…”

Lan Waihu still had her eyes closed. It really looked as though she was having a nightmare.
